Some more work on Sugar

Here are some more test renders I’ve done for Sugar. First I created an advertisement for the beer similar to the ones you see in a typical restaurant. I used the GIMP and the fact that backgrounds in blender are transparent.

Not bad, eh? I did later fix the light color of the ads. It had to do with the materials settings I was using. By the way, do you notice that the ad is encased in plastic as in the restaurants? In some of these shots you’ll see how it distorts the image behind it.

Then I created a packet of sugar. This time I did the texture. (Although I have asked Pete to help me out with another one, so stay tuned for that. So I’ve learned how to do UV unwrapping to paint textures for my models! Yay! I also created that white box that holds the sugar.

Finally, I created sugar to fall out of the sugar packets! All of these images can be clicked to see a larger picture, but for this one you get a bonus! It’s 1280×1024 so if you have a monitor with the same resolution as mine (or a similar ratio) you can use it as a background! (I know I’m being a bit presumptuous with that, but it’s there if you want it) I have some work to do on the lighting, but not tonight.

  1. Ahhhh! I see what you’re going for! A tabletop setting.

So, the whole story will take place on a tabletop? Let me know if you think of anything else I could toss in there. Great job on the ad card! You are the undisputed king of fluid effects.

What you could use is one of those little tent ad dealies. I could give you some POVray-rendered margarita glasses on a blue checkered tablecloth for the image on the tent ad.

And then of course, you’ll have to mesh silverware. That’s a job for Blender right there; nothing else would do.

  2. Not sure if it got lost in the ether, but I sent you an email about making a coaster. Let me know if you got it.

Took me a minute to figure out what this tent ad thing is.

Not sure if I’ll have silverware due to the point in the narrative that the story’s going to take place. We shall soon see.
