Trick or Treat: The Director’s Cut (Part 2)
Ok, I got a better version uploaded. The video is MUCH better quality and the audio is better as well. However, the conversion to flash caused it to go a little out of sync. It’s still not as bad as it was before. Still, for someone like me who’s trying to share their creative vision,…

Is it really stealing?
Publishers often refer to prohibited copying as “piracy.” In this way, they imply that illegal copying is ethically equivalent to attacking ships on the high seas, kidnapping and murdering the people on them. If you don’t believe that illegal copying is just like kidnapping and murder, you might prefer not to use the word “piracy”…

One year’s worth left
I’m getting a bit bored and my wrist is starting to hurt a little from operating the mouse so much. I’m not done recategorizing my blog posts, but I only have one year’s range left – March 2006 – March 2007. Hopefully that was a twelve month period in which I didn’t write too much.…

Newton’s Laws in the Bullet Physics Engine
I was reading 3D World Issue #95 and they had a tutorial for Blender in the Questions section. It involved having a ball hit a wall of bricks and knocking them down. This is tedious to animate brick by brick, but relatively simple with the Blender physics engine. The following animation only took me about…

mytoons.com annoyances
1) It does not seem to support HD aspect ratio (widescreen) videos while Vimeo does. 2) “Shrodinger’s Cat” is not any higher quality than on Vimeo. So far there aren’t too many views, but there hasn’t been a lot of time for people to see my videos just yet.

Mytoons.com
So, I have all of my videos on Vimeo.com. I like them better than youtube because of their focus. Vimeo is very community oriented and they put a huge emphasis on original content. Vimeo is where I go to see new, neat videos like the stuff that Remmy is doing. Youtube is where I go…

Remyyy proves once again why the Public Domain is awesome
I am a huge opponent of repeated attempts to extend copyright so that new works never fall into the public domain. I’ve explained this many times and, while Creative Commons is not public domain, per se, it tends to give the same benefits. Namely, someone can take the content of someone else and make something…

Make a Splash!
After 3-4 days of rendering (fluid reflections and tranparency take forever to render), here is the video outcome of the splash shots I’ve been showing here. Enjoy! Fluid Simulation: Creating a Splash from djotaku and Vimeo.

More Render farm metrics
I expected this to be an awesome triumph because I spent a good deal of the weekend trying to get blender installed on bulletbill. It finally got installed, but it doesn’t work. I had to do some editing here and there to try and get it to work and I think that’s part of the…

Final Exam
I decided to give myself a little “final exam” and practice everything I had learned in Blender so far. So I combined soft bodies, the physics engine, and the fluid simulator. It wasn’t exactly trivial – for example – I had to tell the physics engine to consider the towel to be a ghost because…

Awesome Mashup
Here’s a great mashup Remyyy created with vintage footage and a recent song. It matches up fairly nicely! You don’t know me from Remyyy on Vimeo

Latest Demo
I tried another shot at using the physics engine and here’s my latest work. I rendered this at full HD resolution so it took 2 days and 7 hours to render these 990 frames. Enjoy! Back to Basics – Bullet Physics Engine Dominoes (Part 2) from djotaku on Vimeo
