I have not been doing this calendar in the way it was meant to be played. I keep forgetting for long stretches at a time. Still, we’re only done with the first quarter of the year. Perhaps after this entry I can do a better job at playing daily even if I don’t post to the blog daily. It will probably help the story resonate better for me.

Story

19 Feb

I continue into the swamp, keeping my eyes open for webs or other creatures that will say I have arrived at Silkrend.

Story

13 Feb

After the insanity we just dealt with, I search the wreckage for survivors. I search many corpses, but I only find one ally. They are trapped beneath rubble and I try to dig them out. It’s hard and I almost drop the last piece onto them, but I save them. They are unconscious, but breathing.

I make a makeshift bandage and stem the bleeding. I slap them awake. (+1 minion)

Busy, busy, busy….lots of days to catch up on!

Story

29 Jan

The four enemies stand before the Overlord, proclaiming his end. He does not waver as he predicts they will fall.

I move into a good position for attack (+2 bonus to attack rolls on the next page)

I set up traps to sabotage the battlefield (+2 to DMG on the next day)

I try to create a diversion, but the heroes are focused on their task. (-1 penalty to defense on next day)

I chose to go with Severin Mortis for the rest of the year. It took me a while to get caught up to the date (snow storm) this post will cover many days.

Story

22 Jan

As I step into the ritual chamber, the high mage is there. He shows me that the Soul Crystal is ready and tells me to fetch the Overlord.

23 Jan

Yet another of the Heroes of the Light arrive - this time it’s Vaelor Spellwright, their wizard. He tells me to step aside. I must fight to keep him busy.

Next entry after this one will be the hero I stick with for the rest of the year!! On the most recent Kickstarter update they said that all the stuff we’ve earned up until now carries over.

Story

19 Jan

(Previously Kargoth secured the gate so I get a +2 to all rolls on this day)

On this higher level, there is a chaotic war happening in every corner of the castle. I run to the balcony and see ropes that the enemy has secured to climb up. I try to cut through as many as I can. I cut several lines and revel in the screams as my enemies fall.

Between the two choices for this week’s trial, I went with Grimrot Slinktail, the Ratling Plaguebringer. I liked his story about collecting others’ trash and using it to build himself up.

Story

15 Jan

I am doing my job as a torturer in the dungeons when I hear the sound of battle. The castle is under siege. The dungeon keeper comes in and tells me to leave the torture behind. I must find the Dark Overlord or the High Mage.

Story

12 Jan

I run and dodge through the chaos of the battlefield. As I charge forward a goblin stumbles in my periphery. I have a split second to attack his attacker. I slam into him and send him crashing into the goblin’s blade. (+1 minion)

As I continue on, the battlefield is crazy. I need to find a safe path through the wreckage. I slip and crash into a catapult. (-1 HP)

I chose to go with Kargoth Stormcleaver, Orc Battlemaster. It was a tough choice, but I liked the idea of the guy who looks like a brute, but actually hones his mind.

Story

8 Jan

I fight along with many goblins. The little ones around me are fierce, one should not underestimate them. The wall falls and arrows rain upon us. I use my training and naturally avoid the arrows. They are as harmful to me as the rain itself.

Since we choose a new character on 8 Jan, I chose to have this post cover my remaining days as Severin Mortis.

Story

Day 05

My master the high mage directs me to prepare the spell for the Overlord. He explains that the Soul Crystal was imbued with power by devouring souls when the Dark Overlord activated it. Now we will reverse the operation and give that power to the Dark Lord. My master is perhaps a bit nastier to me than usual because I betrayed him in front of the Dark Lord. I assume he has not tried to kill me because we are both necessary for the spell.

Last year I backed the Kickstarter for the Quest Calendar by Sundial Games. This year is called Souls of Saraku. It’s a Solo TTRPG played as a daily calendar. This year the player chooses to play as a minion for a Dark Overlord (my first year, so I don’t know if it’s always like this). I’ll be blogging about it here as I do with all my TTRPG campaigns. The first 3 weeks of the calendar are a tutorial that allow the player to play with 3 of the minions so that the player is making an informed choice. For week 1 I chose to go with Severin Mortis, a Human Deathweaver.
