What makes mytoons.com so awesome is the fact that they truly do care about their users. Due to what I wrote about my experiences with my “Shrodinger’s Cat” video on their site, I’ve had their lead web support guy email me and we’re actively working on the problem right now. That and getting the comment on my blog from the President is pretty sweet. I’m very happy with this experience as it shows they truly care and are truly working towards having the best animation site on the net. It’s like being in involved in an open source project where they accept your constructive criticism as input towards improving the product instead of something that needs to be swept under the rug.

Here I spoke about how a problem had caused Nick’s hair to look blue. I was using some transparency effects on the hair to let it fade away like real hair. (I was following the hair tutorial in “Introducing Character Animation with Blender”) However, I am using ray tracing for transparency to have good looking transparency in glass and other things. So I also have to use it for the characters.

On my system, running Fedora 7 and Compiz causes the computer to refuse to exit Gnome. I always have to go into a terminal and shut the computer down that way and it’s extremely annoying. So I’ve decided to run KDE as my default desktop instead of Gnome. We’ll see if I can rekindle the fire I used to have for KDE or if it will annoy me enough to drive me back to Gnome.

I came across the follwing European Threat information the other day but have been unable to validate its status. Anyone else seen these and can verify?

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved”. Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross”. Londoners have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to a “Bloody Nuisance”. The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was during the great fire of 1666.

1. It does not seem to support HD aspect ratio (widescreen) videos while Vimeo does.

2. “Shrodinger’s Cat” is not any higher quality than on Vimeo.

So far there aren’t too many views, but there hasn’t been a lot of time for people to see my videos just yet.

So, I have all of my videos on Vimeo.com. I like them better than youtube because of their focus. Vimeo is very community oriented and they put a huge emphasis on original content. Vimeo is where I go to see new, neat videos like the stuff that Remmy is doing. Youtube is where I go if I missed The Colbert Report. Recently I put up my animations, “Jose’s Dinner” and “Shrodinger’s Cat”. However, they don’t seem to be getting a lot of views compared to my other videos. " Jose’s Dinner" has 134 views and " Shrodinger’s Cat" has 134. Most of my other videos have 2 - 4 times as many views.

This picture appeared in a blog that claims to be a hot girl in a wet ubuntu tshirt because she loves Ubuntu. I say that it claims because the tshirt was photoshopped to have the logo. However, my favorite part are the comments on digg.com. Here are some of my favorites: (reads like a bunch of nerdy pickup lines)

Ars Technica is reporting that Netflix is promising that they will be working very hard to get Macintoshes supported. Looks like they read my letter and now they have my brother covered. Now they need to work on Linux support. And drop the DRM because I guess they ignored my paragraph on how it’s BS and it’s broken. I’m waiting…

I am not an unreasonable man and I full understand your need to focus on making your “watch now” feature debut available exclusively to Windows users. After all, they do make up about 90% of computer users. However, I do have some problems with this as a long time plan.

First of all, it does require me to use Internet Explorer. This is extremely shortsighted. What about those of us who use Firefox? My wife was excited about “watch now” until she found out that IE was required and said, “f&ck that!” So you should open up this service to other browsers.
