How did things go?
The party started off by trying to hack into the charging station from the lobby. There weren’t really any ports there for them to interface with. They then wanted to go up the elevator, but the warning about the effects of the Aballon Sun up there deterred them. Satisfied that they had taken all the precations possible, they entered the main area. There they were greeted by Shalalamula (a seksevariak) artist who enjoys using mind-altering substances to enhance his worship of Triune. Nitpick, the hacker witchwarper of the group attempted to cobble together an interface between his comm unit and the professor’s plinth, but it was unsuccessful. He went outside and bought a dongle to convert the different interfaces. Nitpick’s hacking skills failed him and Jadaena was able to help gain access. From there the party was able to learn about Tierny’s suspicions and the fact that someone else had attempted to gain access to his backups. After that, Nitpick opened the chamber and they discovered Tierny’s body and note. After distributing the contents of the commercial null chamber, they did some more investigating. Nitpick tried to hack into the cameras in the room and once again needed Jadaena’s help. They were able to see Tierny enter, but after that the image was glitched.
After being warned off the case, the group fought some alternate reality beings and noticed they were being filmed by government cameras.
They decided to go to the university where Tierny worked, posing as grad students. The party met Erudite-Collector and eventually divulged that they were working on solving Tierny’s murder. They learned from Eruco that Tierny had an object moved to Archive 404 and they should put in a request to get in there because it would take a long time. They also learned about a Vesk socialite who was interested in First Ones Artifacts that had interacted with Tierny. The session ended with the party deciding they would head to the Club Magenta to speak with the Vesk.
How is the mystery solving is going?
It continues to proceed well. The party is doing a good job collecting clues. So far they haven’t missed any.
Conclusion after Session 2
OK, we finished chapter 1 and went a tiny bit into chapter 2. The table is doing a great job with roleplay and I’m trying to make sure I stay out of the way and let the role play happen. The real meat of the adventure is in chapter 2 so it could conceivably take us 2 sessions (reminder: we strictly adhere to a 2 hour time limit and that includes getting settled and planning the next session). It might be a stretch to say it would take 3 sessions, but that’s going to depend on the level of role play and how many (if any) fights the party gets into. I will say that I wish we could play more often!
