Review: Phenomenons: The Wind and Fire

Based on the introduction, it looks like this series was meant to be a trilogy. As such, this book is mostly about wrapping up all the loose ends from the prior two anthologies. I think the book mostly succeeds in that endeavor. The ending somewhat fell flat for me in the same way as the ending to 2001: A Space Odessey; things got a bit too trippy.
As with the the prior two books, this one is an anthology of short stories. As with GRRM’s Wild Cards series, they are all telling the same story, just from different characters’ POVs and with different authors per chapter. Book 1 introduced us to the super heroes. Book 2 was about the inevitable arms race that gets kicked off by having super heroes. This book was about how things can go awry in that battle (akin to nukes or other super weapons).
If there’s one bummer, it’s that things felt slightly rushed in the attempt to wrap things up in 3 books. I think this series has legs based on all the characters and potential villains.
