The party locks all the doors and chances a long rest. The group went into the westmost door after Flint picked the lock. Within the room were a bunch of dead bodies that look drained of all life with looks of horror on their faces. They also look like they’ve been frozen for a long time.
The party begins moving bodies to get up the stairs.
Scrabble asks Miralou if there are customs we should follow with the bodies. They don’t have enough scrub to burn the bodies in a funeral pyre but perhaps later they can deal with them. Miralou can say a prayer over them, but that won’t prevent them from being raised.
Flint ties all the corpses together in case they are raised.
They go up to the second level.
The tied up bodies come upstairs.
A battle ensues.
Scrabble uses burning hands to eviscerate a zombie that was grappling it.
After the battle they enter another room with someone who seems to be stuck reliving the past.
Flint goes to talk to him and it seems that he’s a dead man animated.
They continue on into a hallway and find a few explorers packs and Scrabble picks a lock on a box. They find silver and a potion. Scrabble hands the potion to Treb since he’s the newbie and they split the silver amongst them.
When they go back out into the hallway they see some strange looking creatures in the hallway.
Another fight ensues
Scrabble opens a door and sees another stairwell.
When they go into a room with a ring, Flint grabs it, triggering an attack from his shadow.
When they light a brazier in the next room it knocks Treb out. When Scrabble starts a bardic performance and tries to leave he is knocked out. Thankfully one of the party members, our giant, threw water at the fire and put it out.
Everyone went back to a safe room to have a long rest again.
Two of the party went to talk to the ghost again since lighting the brazier caused it to attack us. It told us to find the library.
We learn this keep was built before Stannisguard was built and the name of it means The Watcher’s Keep. There’s a picture of the ring Flint found. The spirits kept everyone from leaving with the ring, but the fire geiest was the strongest. Sea water could defeat it along with radiant magic.
Player Commentary
We almost TPK’d!! But thankfully we got water on the fire to save our butts! That was exhilarating!
