Valery and the Other Two Session 02: Fetch Quest Intro

Time elapsed so far in campaign at start of this adventure: 15 days
Summary
In the 2 weeks that elapsed since last time Beatrice found out what her new ring does. (It protects her from mind control AND it stores her soul if she dies) She also got some pricing for the items she nicked from the house they were investigating:
- amethyst geode (50GP)
- fossilized fish (50 GP)
- mosquito in amber (100GP)
Storm used the previous 2 weeks to research Zobeck history.
Valery spent some time working and some time carousing with the lower classes. She earned 20 GP working and made 2 contacts: Grim Fandango (male Kobold) and Tom Underhill (male Dwarf).
They also purchased their new headquarters in the merchant district.
A lady named Regina comes by with a newspaper with the following article:
Warehouse Implosion Linked to Cult Ritual

This reporter spoke to authorities about the warehouse that disappeared in an implosion three days ago. The authorities also confirmed that sightings of a wild ripper in the warehouse district was not the result of a magic spell. However, we were assured that it has been captured and dealt with.
A trio of neophyte adventurers reported the summoning of the ripper to the Keepers of the Keys. It is on their testimony that we were informed that cultists summoned the ripper. Due to the implosion neither bodies nor cloaks were found at the site of the former warehouse.
Confidential sources within the KotKs told this reporter that the summoning instructions were found within what was otherwise seen as a pretty harmless book, the Book of Mektar.
Hopefully, this is the last we hear of this cult within The Smithy. With luck, they were all killed in the implosion.
The characters confirm they are the adventurers from the article and she asks them to help her find the pieces to a Foulton Door. When it exploded her mentor vanished and she believes that by putting it back together she can find him. She gives them a wand that will alert them when there’s a piece nearby; the bounty per piece is 500 GP.
When she leaves a dwarf arrives. He is carrying Little Timmy (the current leader of flitkith in Zobeck and businessman first seen in the previous campaign). Something has been messing around with his business shipping goods down the Argent River. He hires the party to deal with it. They get on one of the ships with its crew of kobolds. It turns out a corrupted pixie has been using a giant crab and giant venomous snake to attack the barges. The team quickly dispatches them and harvests some parts from the giant crab. They return to Zobeck and collect their money from Little Timmy.
GM Notes
This was a bit of a breather session to allow the players to get used to their new level 2 powers. I also wanted to introduce Little Timmy into this campaign as well as have Regina give the players the overarching quest for this campaign. Mission accomplished. We go back into a longer session next time.
