Dice Advent Calendar 2025 Day 24

- 4 minutes read - 654 wordsIt’s the final day! We got the tiny dice! Let’s look at those and then let’s do our summary of this year’s dice advent calendar.
Day 24

Day 24 Box
I was starting to worry that we wouldn’t get a mini set of dice for this advent of dice box. But then we had this set of dice in the final panel!

The small dice!
But there was a hidden surprise here! When I was done taking the photos and turned off the lights, the dice looked green. It took me a second to realize they were glow-in-the-dark dice. I went into one of the rooms that didn’t have any windows and took this photo with the lights turned off:

glowing!!
Time to look at the dice all together and in various groups!

Stats
Partway through the calendar I started thinking about how differently the dice felt in my hand. I was curious just how much heavier the metal dice were. I was also curious about the the size ration between the chonky and normal-size dice.
Sizes

| Die | Size |
|---|---|
| chonky d20 | 33.77 mm |
| regular d20 | 22.18 mm |
| tiny d20 | 12.67 mm |
| chonky d6 | 17.82mm |
| regular d6 | 15.93mm |
| tiny d6 | 9.52mm |
I guess when it comes to the chonky dice vs the regular dice (at least the Dice Envy chonky - there ARE larger ones like my Faster Purple Worm, Kill! Kill! d20) the difference is not as big mathematically as it appears to the eye.
Weights

| die | metal | resin | tiny |
|---|---|---|---|
| d100 | 19.36g | 3.44g | 1.03g |
| d20 | 30.41g | 5.42g | 1.52g |
| d12 | 24.15g | 4.33g | 1.21g |
| d10 | 19.46g | 3.53g | 1.02g |
| d8 | 19.38g | 3.75gg | 0.87g |
| d6 | 24.92g | 4.60g | 1g |
| d4 | 10.69g | 1.81g | 0.65g |
Those metal dice are DEFINITELY a LOT heavier than the resin dice. It’s not just in my head. The metal dice are roughly 6 times the weight of the resin (no wonder why I feel the difference!) The ratio with the tiny dice seems to be a bit more uneven, but about 3.5 times - so not quite as dramatic a difference.
Final Thoughts
As I wrote back on day 1, I wasn’t sure I was going to do the 2025 Dice Advent Calendar. I know that Dice Envy does a great job with their dice. I wish I had to money to buy all their sets. My kids did the annual dice subscription in 2025 and each set was creative and beautiful; the kids really enjoyed getting them. But do I really need more dice? (I do I’m a dice goblin! But….money isn’t infinite) Well, as I said, they got me with their Santa/Krampus idea. (Shoot! if I had lottery money I would have bought BOTH) I’m really glad that I partook. I got my first ever d2 and I love the glowing dice even if I am not sure I would ever be playing in a place that was bright enough for me to see my character sheet, but dark enough for them to glow. I probably won’t get it again next year - I have a bunch of other dice I really want this this like this set from my favorite Bells Hells character or this one since I’m alwys the GM or this one for my favorite class. I definitely want to get this one from Dice Envy themselves!
But if you haven’t yet bought an advent calendar from Dice Envy, I would definitely recommend it. It’s a TON of fun to get different dice each day and not knowing what you’re going to end up with. So far it seems like there are always at least 2 full sets and a few misfits. (And, who knows, if my kids get the calendars next year, maybe I’ll post about their dice)
