Story

After defeating the giant, The Pyros broke up. Scrabble joined a pirate ship (the Flying Harpy) at Messori Harbor. On the ship Scrabble met Flint, The Red Moon Reaver. They engaged in some pirating off the coast of the Magocracy of Allain. After a year they have found themselves at pirating the Nieder Straits. Scrabble and Flint are friendly, but not close friends; they work together well. The Flying Harpy attacked a research vessel and Treb and the rest of the crew of the research vessel. Treb was just on the research vessel to get away from his past so he signs the book and joins the crew of The Flying Harpy. Treb is at the bottom rung of the crew as the newest member. The ship has pulled into port at Stannisgard and the crew is on shore leave.

(Last time I used an AI generator to make Scrabble’s image. It was OK. This time around I used Hero Force. The image at the header was created by the player controlling Flint who put everyone’s portraits into an AI image generator to make them all match the same drawing style.)

Scrabble offers a copper to another Kobold at the docks and asks where they can eat. The Kobold recommends Martha Mary’s tavern and indicates they should follow. They enter and Scrabble uses his knowledge of rudimentary dwarvish to get on the tavern patrons’ sides. Treb bets he can make Scrabble glow after he drinks ¼ a pint of beer. After Scrabble drinks it, Treb casts the light cantrip on him. Flint asks the barkeep if there’s any potential for adventure in town and finds out there’s someone in town who needs help. They decide to get a room for the night and explore the rumors the next day.

Player Commentary

We had a few players from The Pyros decide to leave the group and a few others joined, so our GM started us off on a new quest. I chose to keep Scrabble. One of the other regulars changed his character to Flint. There were a few who couldn’t make it to session 0 so we’ll see what they do next time. I’m excited to keep playing Scrabble. I was a little unsure of whether I should have kept him - would he have gone from helping others kill giants to pirating? But I chose to have Scrabble rationalize that his duty is to have as much adventure as possible to become a better bard and show the world that kobolds can be bards.
