My rating: 3 of 5 stars
When Mickey7 ended, I didn’t think there was any need for a second book. I just grabbed this one because I had an audiobook credit and figured - why not? Although the narrative is a bit slow to get going, I think Ashton does a good job closing the loop on a the few loose ends in the first book. There is one plot thread that Ashton leaves hanging (or perhaps I missed it): What happened to the extra Mickeys from this book?
f you liked the first book, this one is slightly more focused on the present. Ashton doesn’t need to provide as many flashbacks and info dumps since we already know how the world works. That said, it’s still a book for a reader that has patience. I don’t mind it, but I wouldn’t recommend it to one of my friends who prefers the narrative always be moving forward.
It was a pleasant read and puts a bow on the story from the first book.
