Review: The Unkindest Tide
By EricMesa
- One minute read - 193 wordsThe Unkindest Tide by Seanan McGuire

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The sea witch has been promising for a while now that things would be coming due soon with the Selkies. The day has arrived. But Toby’s involved, so nothing is going to go all that smoothly. We get to see a new realm and another very important fae. We get more lore dumps. We get family reunions. Of course, Toby gets stabbed.
This book flies! It seemed over way too quickly. Strangely it seemed to me as though there weren’t as many twists and turns to the mystery as usual. Toby seemed to go from point A to B to C more quickly than usual. However, the book is full a great, fun quips - almost always guaranteed when the sea witch is around. After this book I’m not sure where the story goes from here. All the major plot points seem tied up. Well…I guess there’s one obvious choice that was set up a couple books ago and which the sea witch makes Toby promise to do in this book. But I’m unsure if we’re jumping right into that next.
