Misfit Dice April 2025

- 2 minutes read - 361 wordsIt’s literally been years since I went into a Barnes and Noble. Ever since I went fully digital (or MOSTLY fully digital) with my books, I haven’t really had the occasion. But today we were in the vicinity of a B&N and the kids wanted to go inside. As I was wandering around I came to the Dungeons and Dragons table and happened to find a packet of Misfit dice. As you guys know, I have no further need of dice, but at $11 it was an easy impulse buy. I was actually really happy with the dice that came in the package.

First off, I adore this d20:

I grew up in the 80s and early 90s and this reminds me of Casio watches, cheap calculators, and old alarm clocks. It was a great find.
The d12 has a bug inside.

It’s kind of neat in a Jurassic Park sort of way, but it was very hard to try and get my macro lens to focus on it.
The d6 is my least favorite.

There’s nothing wrong with it, it just not anything that calls to me.
The d100 has a neat thing going on with the colors.

But it wasn’t anything too special either.
The d8 is interesting.

It makes me wonder about the set it was originally meant to be a part of. It could be some Heavy Metal set or a Hell set. I’d like to see the companions.
The d10 did not photograph as well as the others.

It’s a similar styles as the d100 and I could see them as coming from either the same set or related sets.
I think the d4 takes the second place slot of the set.

The cashier told me he’d gotten some Pokemon in his Misfit Dice set and this one definitely has a Pokemon inside. I’m not a huge Pokemon person, although I did start playing for the first time on a retro handheld this year. It looks like a Squirtle to me, but others told me it’s an evolved form.
Here they are all together:
