Advent 2024 Dice Days 11-14

- 2 minutes read - 345 wordsLet’s take a look at the latest die or dice from the Dice Envy Advent Calendar.
I thought that by not having to worry about solving the advent of code problems to write a post along with the dice I would be able to keep up with writing a post each day. Twas not to be as I’ve been incredibly busy at work recently.
Although the main sets are definitely the Elsa-blue and the glittery set, we had another of their neat pill d4s during this time period.
Day 11
A traditional d8 in the Elsa-blue style awaited us on this day.
Day 12
I absolutely love this d4. I almost love it more than the Hyrule style d4 I got earlier this month. Here we have 4 lit candles and for each smaller number the candles appear to have run down to the nub. I’m sure that a lot of people use these special d4s this way, but they almost function better as a timer than as an actual d4. (I find them hard to roll randomly) But if I were to place one of these on the table and ocassionally flip to the next smallest number as a countdown to the room getting darker or an enemy attack, I could see it increasing the anxiety at the table ( in a good way!) Kudos to Dice Envy for coming up with this one.
Day 13
Yet another Elsa-blue die on Friday the 13th.
Day 14
For the last die in this series I received a glittery d10. Being relatively new to the hobby I wonder why d10s have a 0 instead of a 10. Is it so that you can do a 0-9 or 1-10 roll? I never raelly questioned it until now.
I’m not sure if I’ll write a post tomorrow for just one die or if I’ll wait until next weekend and do 7 in one post. If it’s just Elsa-blue or glittery I’ll probably save it until there are a few, but we’ll have to see how I feel tomorrow.
