A popular science book about emerging technologies. I’m not sure if it’s because Kelly Weinersmith is actually a scientist, but they do a good job probing potential downsides to each of the technologies. Zach provides cartoons (in the style of his Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal comic) and some humor in the explanations of the technologies.
As they explain in the introduction, there are many reasons these technologies may never come to be. Rather than trying to make predictions, they’re just taking a look at neat tech and the challenges it will face coming to fruition (as well as potential negative effects).
It makes me excited to read their new book A City on Mars: Can We Settle Space, Should We Settle Space, and Have We Really Thought This Through?.
